Annual Survey Results

In December 2011, independent body Carplus carried out an annual survey to give members of car clubs the opportunity to feedback on their experience.  In total, 1255 City Car Club members completed the questionnaire. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time out to complete this for us, it helps us to work to continuously improve our service and address any issues that may have arisen.

Overall the results were extremely positive. Some key findings include:
•    94% of all members reported a high level of overall satisfaction with City Car Club. Only 0.8% believed their experience with City Car Club to be very poor.
•    In total the respondents reported to have reduced the number cars they own by 400 vehicles. If we assume the same rate applies to all our 23,000 members that equates to 9200 fewer cars on the UK’s roads.
•    95% are likely to refer City Car Club to a friend, family member or work colleague.
•    96% have had a positive experience when dealing with the Clubhouse team. Remember if you refer a friend you both receive £20 driving credit.

Whilst the results are extremely useful, we are also constantly listening to your feedback in order to improve our service. If you have any suggestions please feel free to get in touch.

The Clean, Green, Car Recycling Scheme

We’re delighted to announce that we have teamed up with Trade Your Transport, the largest car recycling network in the UK, to offer an exciting reward that’s worth much more than the value of your scrap car.

Exclusive deal

If you recycle your old car with Trade Your Transport and choose the City Car Club reward, you’ll receive £200 to spend on our pay-as-you-go, self-service cars and vans located across 14 UK cities. If you’re new to City Car Club you’ll get your first year’s membership free plus £150 driving credit to get you started. If you’re already a City Car Club member you’ll simply have £200 driving credit added to your account.

How to claim your reward

Simply tell Trade Your Transport a few details about you and your car and they will do the rest! They’ll even come and pick the car up at a time and place that suits you. Once your car has been accepted you’ll then receive your unique code to claim your reward with us. It really is as easy as that.

City Car Club launches Wales’ first car club!

We’re delighted to have launched Wales’ first car club earlier this week and to have extended our operation to Cardiff.There are currently ten low-emission cars located in designated parking bays across the city including the city centre, Cathays, Pontcanna, Riverside, Roath and Cardiff Bay. With many more cars (and vans) planned for the coming months and years. As the UK’s leading car club, we are very excited about providing residents and businesses in Cardiff with a first-class car club service.

2011 Congestion Charge changes

From 1 January, Transport for London (TfL) will be increasing the Congestion Charge.

The good news is that if you pick up a City Car or Van whose home (bay) is inside the charging zone, we will bear the full cost of the Congestion Charge and you will not pay a penny.

Even better, thanks to their ultra-low emissions, all our Toyota Prius hybrids are Congestion Charge exempt, whether or not they live inside or outside the charging zone.

Even even better, from the end of the charging day on 4 January 2010 the charging zone will be smaller, as the Western Extension will be removed from the charging zone. For full details click here.

Unfortunately as TfL still does not except car club vehicles from the charge, from 1 January 2011, if you drive a City Car or Van which lives outside the zone and you drive it into the charging zone, we will pass on the cost at the normal rate of £10. In this situation, you don’t need to pay the charge yourself. Provided the City Car or Van was based in London, we do this on your behalf and simply add it to your monthly bill.

If you enter the charging zone in a City Car or Van from one of our Clubs outside London, you are required to pay the charge directly yourself, as non-London cars are not registered with TfL. Failure to do so will incur additional penalties levied by TfL for late payment and an administration charge of £25.

Don’t forget, the Congestion Charge is only applicable Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 18:00. TfL will also be suspending the Congestion Charge between Christmas Day and 3 January 2011.
