Find out how membership lead to Kai from Bristol’s fairy tale ending…

“In late 2008 I was courting a woman and growing increasingly fond of her, I became excited at the prospect of spending time with my new best friend.

I knew she was returning from a visit to her native country, Poland, to Bristol where she worked, and found out that her flight took her into Luton Airport.

It surprised me when, on the evening of her arrival, I received a call from her; her flight had been delayed bringing her several hours late into Luton, and she had to be at work the next morning…could I help? There was no viable train option, and a taxi would have cost £210.

I must admit at first I thought she was crazy to even ask for a lift – but then I thought of spending more than three hours in her company on the M4, and what a huge favour that would be to bring our relationship to the next level!

It took me just a few minutes to reserve a City Car Club car, 3 hours to get there, and it was all worth it to see the expression on her face in the Luton Airport car park when I arrived in my shining armour, that was the little white car with the familiar pink spot.

A few months after that…we were married! And have been since the December of 2009.”

And they lived happily ever after… Awww.

Got any romantic stories to share with us of our own, in the spirit of Love day? Feel free to get in touch! Don’t forget to reserve your car for the special day too.

Congratulations to Alex, the winner of the most interesting story!

Alex’s new year quite literally started on a high, as he took the car on a daring trip from Bristol to Wales to go paragliding in the snow. Check out those views…

Here’s what he had to say about it:

“On 16th January I reserved one of the brilliant value £25 per day cars for a trip from Bristol to Wales. My plan was to try and go paragliding in the snow. I collected the car from Bristol centre before heading over the Severn Bridge and into the valleys around Rhonda. After checking the wind direction I went to a hill overlooking the Welsh village of Nant-Y-Moel. Initially there wan’t enough wind but after a bit of waiting around the wind picked up and it was enough to fly.

The scenery was stunning although it was pretty cold. Landed to warm up in the great little City Car Club Yaris, and then flew again for a while. I hope you’ll agree it’s a pretty interesting reservation and certainly a trip I couldn’t have done otherwise.

I’ve attached a few pictures. Spot the para-glider!”

Feel free to send us your stories anyway too! We love hearing about what you guys get up to in the vehicles.

One hour to get acquainted with the green machine.

Andrew, one of our members in Yorkshire took us up on this offer. Read about his recent experience of using the LEAF…

“It took a few minutes to unplug read the instructions booklet and check the state of the vehicle. Then I was away and into city traffic with ease- well once I’d located the parking brake! It’s spookily silent, the displays are clear, the speedometer is clear however I found it harder to judge how hard to press the accelerator; something usually experienced when getting used to driving a different car.

After 15 mins I had reached the supermarket, my destination.  A dash round the market in 10 mins and I was back in the LEAF. Reversing was okay and I got the car back to the bay.

Initially, I had anxieties about:

A) driving an Automatic for the first time
B) an Electric car also for the first time.

It was an event free journey. It was pleasant and rewarding as I had over come my initial worries and the LEAF is a lovely car. The instructions inside the vehicle were clear, on this occasion it took me 27 minutes to do the parking and plugging in etc, (combined from the start and ending of my reservation). But if I used it often it would be easy and quicker.

All in all, an excellent economical 1 hour trip in a Nissan LEAF to the supermarket and back. -Thanks City Car Club!”

Have any stories of using the Nissan LEAF yourself? Feel free to email us with how you got on, we love to hear your feedback!

(Did you happen to catch the awesome pictures they shared with us on Twitter?)

Jinchen travelled to Skye and Duncansby Head Lighthouse, nicknamed “Hells mouth” due to the treacherous nature of the sea. (Living proof that a City Car Club car can get you to “Hell and back!”)

Check out the fabulous views…
Jinchen Liu 2 (1) (Cleaned)
Jinchen Liu 3 (5) (Cleaned)

Here’s what Jinchen had to say about his experience of using City Car Club!

“The first time I reserved a vehicle was so easy do it online on the website, and it takes me only 2 mins every time that I need to use a vehicle. I live in Glasgow city centre, there are at least 6 vehicles around me and 1 van. The website just so easy to use, it shows me where the vehicles are located and even the features of the car.

Once I have reserved the car I want to use, I get an email telling me where the car is and how to use the car. When I in the car there is users book in the car tells me more specific about some feature or functions of the car.

I have contacted the Clubhouse team twice, the first time was when I couldn’t get out of one particular car park because the seasonal pass wasn’t working, but Clubhouse helped me without any problem. The second time is because I need to extend my reservation, the whole process was straight forward.

I choose City Car Club over my own car. I in fact sold my car because of City Car Club! Why? Simply because I don’t need my own car anymore. I don’t need to pay for insurance, worry about the MOT, road tax, etc. Also all the car City Car Club have low CO2 output- some cars don’t even have CO2 emissions!  Because I live in the city centre, parking can be quite expensive but with CityCarClub I don’t need to worry about that cost too. All the vehicles that CityCarClub have are fairly new cars. And as I am 23, it was just too expensive to continue to use my own car.

City Car Club is amazing!”

We’re blushing! If you want to follow us on Twitter or Facebook we would love to hear about the amazing places you’ve been to.

Want to try the magic of using a car club yourself? Well look no further… or do you know someone who could benefit from City Car Club membership? Don’t forget to refer a friend and you’ll both bag yourself up to 4 hours driving*.

*As you would expect our standard terms apply. £20 driving credit will be applied to both accounts and you’ll have 60 days to use it.
